Key Attractions at the Philadelphia Zoo

The Philadelphia Zoo is a zoo located in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was opened on July 1, 1874 and has been open ever since. The site was donated by John Rowland Sargent and Benjamin Warner as an educational institution for the people of Philadelphia to explore science and nature in 1889. 

This is a world-class zoo with something for everyone. It has so many things to do and see that you will never get bored. With over 4,000 animals from around the world, there are plenty of new experiences waiting for you at the Philadelphia Zoo. Philadelphia’s amazing zoo offers many different activities and animal exhibits that people of all ages can enjoy. For example, the zoo offers an African Adventure exhibit which features three endangered species of rhinos, hippos, lions and cheetahs among other animals. Visit the PECO Primate Reserve with kids

Do you have kids? If so, then this is the perfect place for them to visit. The PECO Primate Reserve has lots of monkeys and apes that your children will love watching climb around their home. They also offer educational programs for adults and children alike. Your family can enjoy this great experience with a tour guide or on your own time exploring. The monkeys are not all caged up like in some zoos because they are free to roam around their natural habitat at the reserve.

Bird Watching at McNeil Avian Center

McNeil Avian Center is a place for birds to get the attention they need. They have a walk-in hospital, an indoor rainforest and two outdoor aviaries. This all provides them with rehabilitation care. The facility also has 2 guest rooms available for those who are not staying in the area but want to come visit the center. McNeil Avian Center is dedicated to helping birds heal from their injuries or illnesses while providing them with enrichment activities that will keep them stimulated.
